This summer my nail colors ranged from nude to electric orange to hot pink. But as the weather gets cooler, it’s time to change things up a bit. Looking through the fashion magazines and various blog sites, I’ve noticed a recurring theme: jewel toned nail polishes. From drugstore brands like Sally Hansen to the high-end brands Chanel and Dior, women are sporting some serious sparkle on their nails.
Essie is a brand that I have been using for years because of its faithful chip-resistance and (hundreds!) of shades to choose from. They’ve come out with a beautiful deep burgundy shade, “Lacy Not Racy” ($8), sold at drugstore.com that I have fallen in love with. And I will definitely be wearing a lot this season.
Nars offers a rich amethyst color, “Tokaido Express” ($16) available at Barney’s department stores and also at barneys.com. It is infused with tiny gold specks to give you the ultimate glam look! It is universal enough that it works beautifully on both cool and warm skin tones.
Mac, the brand that I turn to for all my makeup needs, has not disappointed with this gorgeous shade of green, “Beyond Jealous” ($12). You can find it at maccosmetics.com or wherever MAC products are sold. Although you may be a little weary of green polish, the dark tone is subdued enough to wear with almost anything!
